This week I had transfers! I got moved to an area in the town of Granada. I think it´s to the west of Lake Managua but I'm not positive...I need to find a map of Nicaragua because I´m lost here sometimes! My area is AWESOME, It´s right along the side of Lake Managua. We only have to walk about a block from our house to see the lake. The area is called La Estación (The station). It´s a little branch of about 80 members that attend regularly. It´s pretty much the complete opposite of my other area. This town is a pretty big tourist town because it´s supposedly one of the oldest towns in Central America. It has a lot of stores and cool restaurants. Every where we go we see white people walking around taking pictures. It´s really weird to see white people! The area has some people that are really wealthy, but also people that are really poor. The poor part of town is right along side the beach. The people pretty much just live in little shacks right next to the water! Since the area is right next to the water it is A LOT hotter than my other area. Im pretty sunburnt right now!
My new companion is named Elder Chacaj and he is from Guatemala. If you haven´t noticed by now, there are a lot of missionaries from Guatemala who come here to Nicaragua! So far Elder Chacaj has been awesome! He just got done with his 3 months of training so I´m his second companion. I was a little nervous at first, because him and I are both really new, but I know that the Lord has been blessing us as we´ve been obedient. We are both pretty inexperienced, but if there´s one thing I have learned more than anything it´s that if we are humble and work hard, the Lord will make up for any weaknesses we might have. We have been trying to do just that and this week we were able to place baptismal dates with two different families for the 28th of this month and then the 4th of August!
Elder Chappell, my companion from the MTC, and his companion work in the same town as us, just a few blocks more to the west! They attend church at the same church building too, but are in a different branch. His branch has church from 9-12 and my branch has church from 2-5. It´s been fun to talk to Elder Chappell and catch up on how he´s been doing. It´s always fun to talk to my MTC buddies and swap stories with them about our experiences.
I attached a few pictures that we took today as we were walking around central park here in Granada as a district.
I also attached a few pictures of our little room and bathroom! We live in the upstairs bedroom of a really nice house. The owner of the house is an old grandma, so she doesn't use the upstairs room at all.
I haven't had a lot of time to take more pictures since I´ve just been getting settled in, but I´ll send more soon!
I love and miss you all!
Love,
Elder Parrish
