This week went great. On Wednesday, Alejandro and Carmen got married. Then on Friday, he got baptized. Everything went really smoothly. Lots of members came to support in both the marriage and the baptism, and the members even bought a cake for them. The bishop baptized Alejandro. I've never seen them both so happpy. They both shared their testimonies in the baptismal service and both started crying like crazy. Carmen was so happy that she was finally able to get married to Alejandro and that he was able to get baptized. She had been talking with him for about a year trying to convince him to go to church, and when he finally did he absolutely loved it. Alejandro shared his testimony about the happiness he has felt as he's changed his life. They were both glowing and we could see in them the true happiness that only living the gospel of Jesus Christ can provide.
On Saturday we had a stake activity about the book of Mormon. Every ward was assigned to act out, or show a video, about certain stories or events in the Book of Mormon. Our ward was assigned to act out the first vision of Joseph Smith and when the angel Moroni led Joseph to the golden plates and he translated them. We only had 8 minutes to perform it! Other topics were: Christ visits the Americas, the prayer of Enos, Lehi leaves Jerusalem with his family, Moroni hides the plates, Alma baptizes in the waters of Mormon, and Lehi's dream of the tree of life. It was a great activity. We got a few pictures. They chose a younger kid in the ward to be Joseph Smith at the time of the first vision. I was asked to play Joseph Smith when he was grown up. (Probably for my blue eyes and blonde hair.)
I'm loving the work. Yesterday President Russell told us that I'm for sure going to end the mission here in Las Palmas with Elder Mann! I'm pretty excited about that because Elder Mann and I get along really well and are having lots of success.
Love and miss you guys!
