Goooood morning everybody!
I am learning more and more that when we work hard the time passes FAST. I can't believe it's Monday already! This week was another normal week. Right now we don't have a lot of investigators but we are in the process of searching for more people to teach! I have learned that even if we already have people to teach, we need to always be searching for more people that the Lord has prepared for us.
This is the last week before we have transfers again! We should find out next Monday night who has transfers. Elder Salguero and I are both thinking that I will be transfered and that Elder Salguero will stay here his last transfer to finish his mission. Elder Salguero keeps telling me I'm going to train a new missionary this next transfer but I'm not sure I agree with him! We'll see what happens!
This week we had a pretty hilarious experience. Well, I thought it was pretty hilarious at least! Elder Salguero and I were teaching a recent convert named Miguel. The lesson was very spiritual and very serious. We began talking about the resurrection and how because of Jesus Christ we will all be resurrected, receiving a perfect, immortal body of flesh and bone. I shared a scripture in the Book of Mormon, Alma 40:23 which says, "The soul shall be restored to the body, and the body to the soul; yea, and every limb and joint shall be restored to its body; yea, even a hair of the head shall not be lost; but all things shall be restored to their proper and perfect frame." In Spanish, the word for hair is cabello. However, when I was reading the part that says "even a hair of the head shall not be lost..", I accidently said caballo-which means horse. So the sentence ended up saying, "even a horse of the head shall not be lost." I immediately noticed my mistake and busted up laughing! Miguel and my companion also started laughing really hard and before we knew it we were all nearly falling out of our chairs laughing! It was funny because we went from completely serious to laughing for about 5 minutes straight. Good ole Spanish. Even though I feel like my Spanish has gotten a lot better, it's still hilarious when I make simple mistakes like that! It keeps me humble :)
This Wednesday I will complete 6 months!!! I can't believe almost 6 months have already passed by. I feel so blessed to be a part in such an incredible work. I have already seen my testimony grow in ways I didn't think it could. No one could shake my beliefs about this gospel! I know it is true without a single doubt in my mind. The Lord is really helping me develop into a better missionary and better man. I have seen new talents and gifts developing in me that I didn't know I had. That's the power of the gospel of Jesus Christ, it changes and improves each one of us, allowing us to do things we never thought we could do.
I love and miss you all! I hope you all have a great week and a good 4th of July! You are always in my thoughts and prayers.
Love, Elder Parrish.
