Hello everybody,
Tuesday, Elder Franco and I had to go to Managua for a meeting with all the zone leaders of the mission. We talked a ton about the mission goals for March. The mission goal for March is to baptize 60 families. Baptizing a family consists in baptizing both a husband and wife, or completing families by baptizing the spouse that wasn't a member. The most families the mission has ever baptized in a month was 43, so it's a pretty big goal to reach! Elder Franco and I have been getting our zone pumped up to work really hard this month.

Wednesday, the whole zone had a training meeting with President Monestel and the assistants. We did lots of practicing teaching. We also had our interviews with President. My interview went really well. President told Elder Franco and I that, for the moment, Granada is the best zone in the whole mission. In our interview, President asked me, "Elder Parrish, it's very likely that Elder Franco is going to be transfered in a couple weeks, because he already has been in Granada 6 months. Elder Franco and his other companion turned this zone into the best zone in the mission when it comes to obedience and number of baptisms. Do you feel like you are ready to take the lead over the best zone in the mission and help it to continue having success??" What a question...hahah. (President Monestel is a very very intimidating and direct person). I told him that, with the help of Elder Franco in the next couple weeks, I know I can be ready to handle the responsibilities as zone leader and help the zone continue to have success. He seemed happy with my answer. No pressure right?...haha.
Thursday, I did divisions with Elder Chappell, my MTC companion! It was fun to work with him again. It was the first time we had taught together since the MTC. It was a really fun day, and we put a baptismal date with a lady, only to then realize that she didn't live in my area boundaries, so we had to pass the reference to other Elders in Granada. Elder Chappell is a STUD. He is one of the hardest working missionaries I know. President always sends him to the districts that are struggling, and he always turns them around and finds ways to baptize. Right now, he is district leader in Diriomo, a little town just outside of Granada. When he started in Diriomo, the district had 0 families teaching. (A family teaching is a husband and wife with any number of children, that have a specific baptismal date). Now after a matter of 2.5 weeks, his district has around 8 families teaching!
Friday, we had our first zone meeting of the transfer. It was really fun to prepare the meeting with Elder Franco and get the zone excited to reach our goals in March! We have an awesome zone.
Elder Franco and I are working our tails off in our area. Our area is so much different than all the other areas I've had! Included in our area are the central park and market (which is basically just a bunch of tourists), and about 5 HUGE catholic churches. The majority of the people in our area do pretty well money-wise and have bigger houses. We have been struggling to find receptive people, but the Lord is blessing us so that we have some investigators to teach. This Sunday, we had two investigator families come to church!
I love and miss you all! Have a great week :)
Love,
Elder Parrish
